In the age of Covid, awareness and concern about hygiene has become prevalent in the public consciousness. Hand sanitizers are now commonly available in restaurants, retail brick and mortar stores, libraries and other public buildings. In a previous post, we talked about a new plastic film laminate that offers a fine grit texture for printed material. Today, we’ll touch upon new plastic film laminates (from manufacturer Nobelus) that have antibacterial properties to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria.
What Are Antibacterial Laminates?
Like other plastic film laminates used in lamination for print pieces, antibacterial film laminates offer protection from damage by exposure to liquids, grease, scuffs and abrasions. However, in addition, the laminates are manufactured with antibacterial materials (e.g., silver ions) that eliminate the spread of bacteria. As with other plastic film laminates, antibacterial laminates can be wiped clean with soap and water for additional hygienic benefits.
Any Limitations to Using Antibacterial Laminates?
No, these laminates are ideal for menus, business cards, book covers, packaging, signage, labels, pocket folders — any kind of printed piece where regular plastic laminates are used.
